Arsenal’s search for added firepower has brought Kevin Schade firmly into focus, with TeamTalk reporting that the Gunners and Liverpool are both monitoring the Brentford attacker closely. The 24-year-old has made a sharp start to the season and, in a market where Premier League-proven pace carries a premium, his name is rising quickly.

Schade has scored three goals in six appearances, and his influence has been central to Brentford’s unbeaten opening and their climb towards the upper reaches of the table. Those close to the situation believe Arsenal and Liverpool are the clubs showing the strongest interest, having followed him since the closing stages of the last transfer window.

Brentford’s position is clear. Sources indicate they would want more than £60 million to even contemplate a January sale. That figure is described as significantly above his current valuation, which underlines the negotiating strength Brentford believe they hold. They are also said to have opened talks over a new deal for Schade, whose existing contract runs until 2028.

This is a familiar pattern when a player breaks into Premier League prominence. Schade’s pace, direct running and improved end product have pushed him into a different bracket. Brentford know that a successful renewal would “significantly raise the fee required to get him” and strengthen their hand further.

There is also an internal football argument for keeping him. He has become “central to Keith Andrews’ plans”, and with Brentford under no obvious financial pressure, there is no immediate need to cash in. That tends to matter in winter windows, when buying clubs often hope urgency exists on the selling side.

The timing may prove crucial. Brentford are trying to protect both a key player and a valuable asset, and the article describes the situation as a “delicate” balance. Arsenal may admire the profile, but admiration and execution are different matters when the price sits north of £60 million.

Fitness is another layer in the conversation. Schade was forced off during the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa with what Andrews called “just a shoulder injury”, although he also admitted he was unsure about the severity at that stage. He is reportedly doubtful for Brentford’s meeting with Liverpool, with a final decision expected nearer kick-off.

That uncertainty may not alter long-term interest, but it can influence short-term movement. January is a month where clubs prefer clarity, especially when discussing major fees for attacking players expected to make an instant impact.
