However, the most exciting of these signings was also the youngest of them, i.e., the winger Yan Diomande, who became the most expensive signing in the Merengue club’s history.

The Ivorian had a rather slow start to life in Spain, as Jose Mourinho took a patient approach with the youngster. However, lately, he has been gaining in prominence. He provided his first goal contribution, an assist, in the game against Elche, and put in a very encouraging performance despite coming on as a substitute in the derby .

For now, he is away from Real Madrid, as Ivory Coast called him up for the September international break, during which the Elephants would be looking to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, and as Diario AS has noted, the winger has also been highly impressive with his national side.

He put in an excellent performance against Ghana last Thursday, helping his side get a 2-0 win. Diomande’s national team coach, Herve Renard, particularly highlighted his dribbling ability and discipline while defending following this game.

Going forward, the young winger is set to return to the field this Tuesday, when Ivory Coast will face Somalia. After that, he will again play against Cameroon before returning to the Merengue club.
