Liverpool’s reported interest in AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara could become an important transfer story as the January window approaches, with David Lynch identifying the Senegal international as a player the Reds clearly admire.

Speaking on Anfield Index, Lynch discussed Liverpool’s midfield options and the possibility of the club pursuing Camara more aggressively. With questions surrounding Alexis Mac Allister’s contract situation, adding another midfielder could become a priority over the next two transfer windows.

Lynch has been positive about Camara’s ability and believes Liverpool’s interest is genuine.

“He’s a really good player, by the way,” Lynch said, adding that Liverpool “clearly definitely like him” and that “there’s a potential for them to go in for him”.

Those comments suggest Camara is more than a name being casually linked with Anfield. Liverpool appear to have been monitoring his performances, although interest alone does not guarantee that a transfer will happen.

Lynch also pointed to qualities that could appeal to Liverpool, particularly the midfielder’s work without the ball. He said Camara “can do the stuff we don’t seem to be very good at”, highlighting an area where Liverpool may want to improve.

However, Lynch urged caution over comparisons between Camara’s performances in Ligue 1 and those expected in the Premier League. He rates the midfielder highly but stressed that performances in different leagues cannot always be compared directly.

A January transfer will depend on several factors, including Monaco’s willingness to negotiate and Liverpool’s assessment of their midfield needs during the first half of the season.
