Liverpool’s long-running admiration for Michael Olise appears to have met a firm obstacle, with TeamTalk reporting that the Bayern Munich star has little interest in returning to the Premier League at this stage of his career. For all the noise around a possible move to Anfield, the current picture is far less encouraging for Liverpool.

The key detail is clear. Olise is said to be settled in Germany, happy at Bayern Munich, and open to fresh contract talks that could place him among the club’s top earners. That development matters, because when a player is both performing at an elite level and content in his environment, transfer opportunities quickly become limited.

According to the report, “a move to Spain is currently the only scenario that could prise Michael Olise away from Bayern Munich”, which immediately places Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City on the outside looking in. The same report adds that Bayern’s rivals in England have effectively been told where they stand, with the player having “little desire to return to the Premier League”.

From Liverpool’s perspective, this feels like one of those situations where admiration does not translate into genuine possibility. Olise is exactly the sort of high-level attacking talent elite clubs track closely, and his output explains why. The report points to “an incredible 108 G/A (50 scored, 58 assists) in just 114 appearances”, numbers that place him firmly in the top bracket of attacking midfielders and wide creators in Europe.

Bayern Munich clearly see him in those terms too. TeamTalk states that the German champions are ready to offer terms that would put him close to Harry Kane’s prospective new contract, a deal “understood to be worth close to €500,000 a week”. More significantly, Bayern are prepared to move in that direction because “they believe he is on a par with any attacking midfielder in world football”.

That is a powerful message from the Bundesliga champions. It is also the kind of financial and sporting backing that makes a transfer very difficult to engineer, particularly when the player himself is not pushing for a move.

The current expectation is that Bayern will attempt to secure Olise’s long-term future before any uncertainty grows. They know interest exists, they know his level has risen sharply since leaving Crystal Palace, and they know retaining him is now a priority.

The report says Olise is “open to discussions with Bayern over a new contract”, while the club are “prepared to put a hugely lucrative offer on the table”. In practical terms, that means Bayern are moving early and aggressively to shut down any developing market.
