Even though the transfer window is shut, Liverpool are still being linked with many new players.

Their first-team squad is in a good place at the moment but, if they suffer two or three injuries throughout the campaign, they could bump into some trouble.

For example, if someone such as Ronald Araujo gets a long-term injury, there's nobody who can plug the gap that he'll leave behind, especially with Conor Bradley still unavailable .

Indeed, Jeremie Frimpong can be used there if needed but, as he's proven over the last year or so, he's really not Liverpool's best option at right-back.

Andoni Iraola and Richard Hughes spent a decent chunk of change on improving the Reds' first-team squad over the summer and, although they look to be in a better place, there are still some areas of their team that could do with an upgrade or two.

So, even though the January transfer window is still months away, it's hardly surprising to see Liverpool already getting linked to new players.

Of all the areas among Liverpool's ranks, their midfield is probably their weakest area.

Even though they have four solid options in Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Trey Nyoni , it still feels like the Reds need more in that department.
