Fresh reports around Jordan Pickford and Bayern Munich have inevitably caught attention, given the stature of the clubs involved and the standing the Everton goalkeeper holds in both the Premier League and England set-up. But the clearest message emerging from the latest information is that this is not a move gathering real momentum.

According to TeamTalk , Bayern Munich have effectively cooled suggestions that they are stepping up plans to sign Pickford. Their focus appears to be elsewhere, and that matters for Everton, because the noise around elite-level goalkeepers can often develop quickly when there is even a hint of uncertainty.

The key line is straightforward, Bayern “are not currently pursuing the England No 1”. For Everton, that will be the most relevant detail of all. Pickford has long been central to the club on and off the pitch, and while top-level interest will always follow a goalkeeper of his calibre, the current picture points strongly towards continuity rather than upheaval.

Bayern’s thinking, as outlined in the report, revolves around succession planning after Manuel Neuer. The veteran remains hugely important in Munich, and although “There is a belief that the current season could be Neuer’s final campaign”, Bayern “will not force their long-serving goalkeeper into retirement.” That has had a knock-on effect on every external option linked with the club.
