As the season resumes this weekend, with Barcelona taking on Getafe, the club could soon be boosted by the return of Frenkie de Jong.

The international break has given the Dutchman some ample time to recover and the player is currently in the final stage of his recovery.

De Jong could be discharged by the medical team in the coming weeks , as he continues to train and return to full fitness. But returning alone won’t guarantee him a long-term place in Hansi Flick’s plans.

According to SPORT , Barcelona will put de Jong’s form and fitness under the microscope as the player slowly looks to recover his full fitness.

The club will not take any risks with the fitness of the Dutch international, as they look to avoid the risk of aggravating his injury.

The fact that Barcelona’s midfield engine consisting of Pedri, Rodri and Marc Bernal have done tremendously well has given Hansi Flick to room to exercise more patience with de Jong.

But this is not necessarily good news for the Ajax starlet, who will have a difficult time reclaiming his spot as a first-team regular in the Barcelona setup.
