In a recent print edition , A Bola mentioned that Sunderland are still keen on signing Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo. It has been claimed that the Black Cats remain eager to get a deal done for the Mozambique talent next year.

Catamo has enjoyed a good run of form at the Portuguese club as he has put in a few eye-catching performances for them in the final third. The 25-year-old has registered two goals and grabbed three assists in eight appearances for Sporting this season in multiple competitions.

The Mozambique talent is currently one of the most talented wide players in Liga Portugal. Hence, the Black Cats would do well to bring him on board next year.

His current contract at the Portuguese club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Sunderland to sign him on a cut-price deal this January or at the end of this season.

Catamo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Mozambique talent can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. Catamo is primarily a right-winger but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to land him in 2027.

We can expect Catamo to add more firepower to Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Wearside club over the next few years.
