Leeds United may only be a handful of Premier League matches into the new campaign, but one of the club’s biggest transfer stories is already beginning to take shape. According to TeamTalk , Bayern Munich are pushing Muharemovic high on their shortlist, with the German giants viewing the Leeds defender as a leading target for 2027.

That is a significant development, even at this early stage. Tarik Muharemovic only arrived at Elland Road in July, joining from Sassuolo in a deal worth up to £34m, and he has quickly established himself as one of Daniel Farke’s most important players. The 23-year-old has settled rapidly into Premier League football, offering balance on the left side of defence, bringing authority in duels, and already contributing with a goal and an assist.

It is no surprise, then, that Leeds now appear to believe they have a “£60m-plus rated asset” on their hands. When clubs recruit with conviction and the adaptation is immediate, valuations can change very quickly. That seems to be exactly what has happened here.

The key line from the report is a striking one. Sources indicate Bayern Munich “have the Bosnia and Herzegovina international listed as their top target heading into 2027”. That places Muharemovic firmly in elite company and underlines how highly he is now regarded across Europe.

There is, however, important context around the timing. While Bayern are said to admire the defender strongly, Leeds are in no mood to entertain any approach during the winter market. The report states that “a mid-season deal is regarded as out of the question at Elland Road”, which aligns with the club’s current position and wider strategy.

Leeds have every reason to stand firm. Muharemovic has signed through to June 2031, which gives the club substantial control. They are under no obvious financial pressure, and there is no sporting incentive to weaken an area of the pitch where the player has become central so quickly. As the piece makes clear, “Sources insist Leeds have absolutely no sporting reason or financial need to cash in halfway through his first season at the club.”

That wording matters. It points to a club that are comfortable, organised and aware of the value of what they possess. Bayern may monitor closely, and they may be preparing early, but admiration does not automatically create a deal.

The strongest takeaway from the report concerns Leeds United’s internal position. Even if serious interest grows over the next 12 months, any move still appears difficult. TeamTalk reports that “it will take something extraordinary for the club to consider selling their prized defender”.
