Viktor Gyokeres has spoken about his personal stance on a potential Arsenal transfer exit over the summer, insisting he was always minded to stay with the Gunners.

“Of course, there was a lot of speculation,” Gyokeres said . “But I had a full pre-season, and it felt good. I was fully focused on Arsenal. For me, staying was a given. I’m extremely happy at the club.

“Of course you expect more playing time, but we have an extremely good squad with a lot of good players and have been doing well here at the start.”

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that there were top clubs interested in Gyokeres over the summer, especially from Spain, with multiple enquiries over the player’s potential availability.

But similar to Gyokeres himself, Arsenal were reportedly insistent that the player was not for sale, that they trust him, and that they want him to stay.

Whilst Gyokeres’ start to the new season has been difficult so far, Romano adds that Arsenal maintain that they expect the striker to be very important this season. Though he admitted things could change in 2027 for the right club with the right bid.
