Real Madrid and Barcelona have competed for the services of several young talents over the years, with Arda Guler being one notable example who snubbed the Catalans for Real Madrid.

In recent weeks, both clubs have been involved in a battle to secure the signing of Manchester United protege JJ Gabriel, who is looking to leave the English side.

The Red Devils are doing everything in their capacity to ensure the player stays, and are even threatening legal action if he signs for an external club. For his part, however, the player is now 16 years of age and is free to join any club even outside England.

As relayed by SPORT in a recent report, the teenage sensation is currently in Barcelona, training hard as his future moves towards its next concrete step. He is waiting for the saga to be completed soon.

At this point in time, Real Madrid are leading the race over Barcelona narrowly, but the Catalans took a major step this week to close the gap.

Indeed, Joan Laporta and Co. are said to have filed an official proposal to Gabriel’s entourage, including a three-year contract with a salary of €2 million and additional bonuses. For a 16-year-old star, those numbers are ludicrous.
