Rangers face a decision over Nicolas Raskin after his proposed summer exit failed to produce a completed transfer, with January now emerging as the next major checkpoint for the 25-year-old midfielder.

Ryan Jack discussed the situation on the Go Radio Football Show, with Ibrox News reporting that Rangers manager Derek McInnes must keep Raskin focused until the club, player and his representatives can review his position again in January. The Belgian had looked set for a move after his profile rose sharply during the 2026 World Cup, while Real Betis, Bologna, Atalanta, Hull City and Besiktas all showed interest at different stages.

A deal never crossed the line. Raskin later admitted that he was “mentally ready” to leave Govan, yet his response since then has given McInnes plenty to work with. Rather than sulk, the midfielder returned to the team and helped Rangers produce six straight victories, including consecutive Old Firm wins over Celtic . He played a key role in the 3-0 cup victory and the 1-0 league win, with the latter cutting Celtic’s lead to two points.

That run has changed the immediate picture. The player still has a future decision to make, but his performances have made a winter sale harder to justify from a sporting perspective.

Raskin’s recent conduct matters here. The 25-year-old wanted a transfer, yet he did not stop competing once the window closed. Instead, the Belgium international returned to the midfield, accepted responsibility and helped Rangers beat Celtic twice within a week. That professionalism gives McInnes a basis for keeping the relationship positive rather than turning the situation into a dressing-room issue.

The tactical case is even more important. Rangers have built momentum, and Raskin has become part of the midfield structure that has helped produce six consecutive wins. Replacing that profile halfway through the campaign would be risky, sporting-wise, particularly because January offers fewer options and less time for a new signing to settle.
