Mikel Arteta has agreed a new contract with Arsenal, committing his future to the club after leading them to their first Premier League title in 22 years, according to The Athletic .

The Spanish tactician’s deal was due to expire in summer 2027, after he signed his last extension in September 2024.

However, his improved terms will now keep him at the Emirates beyond that point, with members of his backroom staff also expected to get new contracts.

Arteta has been Arsenal manager since December 2019, when he succeeded Unai Emery after leaving his role as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.

He inherited an Arsenal side sitting 10th in the Premier League and still searching for direction following Arsene Wenger’s departure.

The former Arsenal and Everton midfielder immediately delivered silverware by winning the FA Cup at the end of his first season, beating Chelsea in a memorable final.

The 44-year-old transformed Arsenal into title contenders, guiding them back into the Champions League before finishing runners-up in three successive league campaigns between 2023 and 2025.

That persistence finally paid off last season when Arsenal were crowned champions on May 19.
