Liverpool youngster Will Wright has emerged as a potential candidate for a January loan move following another impressive performance at youth level, with journalist David Lynch suggesting the striker could soon benefit from experiencing senior football.

Speaking to Dave Davis on Anfield Index’s Media Matters podcast, Lynch discussed Wright’s development after the forward scored a hat-trick and registered an assist in Liverpool’s UEFA Youth League fixture.

The conversation raised an important question for Liverpool’s academy staff and head coach Andoni Iraola: how much longer should Wright remain in youth football when his performances suggest he is ready for a greater challenge?

During the podcast, Davis highlighted Wright’s latest goalscoring display, praising one of his finishes and questioning whether the youngster had already outgrown his current level.

“Will Wright is almost too good for under-21 level at this,” Davis remarked.

Lynch responded by suggesting Liverpool could revisit the striker’s immediate future midway through the campaign.

“You wonder whether they kind of get to the halfway point of this season and start to think about a loan because he’s scoring so prolifically now.”

The journalist also pointed towards Wright’s physical development as a reason to consider the next stage of his career.
