According to Mundo Deportivo , it has been learned that Barcelona are preparing to address the contractual situations of Gerard Martin and Brian Farinas, with sporting director Deco keen to make progress on both renewals.

The pair are the latest names on the club’s list as Barcelona work on new deals for Raphinha, Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart .

Deco’s priority is to avoid entering next summer with uncertainty surrounding players whose current contracts expire in 2028, particularly with the club continuing to manage its financial position.

Martin signed a contract extension until 2028 in January 2025, but his importance to Hansi Flick’s side has increased considerably since then.

Initially viewed as an alternative at left-back, the defender has developed into a regular option at centre-back, giving Barcelona greater depth in a position that has been affected by injuries.

The renewal discussions remain at an early stage, meaning there is still work to do before an agreement can be reached.

However, his growing influence has strengthened the case for Barcelona to revisit his terms and offer a deal that reflects his current standing in the squad.
