Chelsea SOLD Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

That deal has left a sizeable gap in Xabi Alonso’s midfield with one Liverpool star high up on the Blues boss’s wishlist.

Alexis Mac Allister , 27, has made clear his frustrations at not being offered a new contract at Anfield.

With Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai earning bumper new contracts instead the Argentina international has been offered nothing.

The FIFA World Cup winner’s current deal expires in 2028 - meaning sporting director Julian Ward is in a tough position over the South American.

Either Liverpool earn some money on the No10 in the upcoming windows or else risk losing him for nothing in just under two years’ time.

That has put Chelsea on alert according to a report in Football Insider - which claims that a deal for Mac Allister could be wrapped up as soon as January.

“Chelsea have set their sights on a move to sign Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister amid doubts about his long-term future,” the report reads.
