Arsenal’s striker search appears to be stretching well beyond the immediate market, with fresh checks carried out on Inter forward Pio Esposito during the international break. According to TeamTalk, the 21-year-old is firmly on the club’s radar as part of wider planning ahead of 2027, underlining the depth and range of the recruitment work now taking place behind the scenes.

Arsenal are expected to remain active in the centre-forward market, and the established names regularly associated with the club continue to circulate. What stands out here, however, is the indication that the club are not limiting themselves to headline options. They are also weighing younger profiles who could develop into elite-level solutions, and Esposito is increasingly being treated as one of those serious possibilities.

It is understood Arsenal had scouts in Bursa to monitor Italy’s meeting with Turkiye, a game that ended 4-1 and saw Esposito find the net. The trip was not solely about him, with ongoing checks also being made on Real Madrid’s Arda Guler, but Esposito was clearly a player of specific interest during that window.

Those observations did not come out of nowhere. Arsenal have already been following his progress in Serie A and the early returns this season have only strengthened that interest. After returning to Inter following a highly productive spell with Spezia, he has begun well back at his parent club and looks increasingly comfortable with the step up in responsibility.

There is a growing sense that Arsenal’s recruitment department are doing what the best operators do, gathering information early, repeatedly and across different settings before making any major decision. Domestic football, international football and contract situation all form part of that picture.

Esposito’s appeal is easy to understand. He is regarded as a powerful striker with sharp instincts, good technique and the intelligence to link phases of play rather than simply occupy defenders. That blend makes him a particularly intriguing fit for clubs looking for a forward capable of leading the line while still contributing to combination football.

His record points to a player moving quickly through the levels. He has scored twice in his first five Inter appearances this season, after a previous campaign that brought 10 goals and helped push him into senior international contention. He has then responded with six goals in 12 appearances for Italy, a return that speaks to both confidence and adaptability.

There is broader competition too. Manchester United have also watched him, while Inter have acted decisively by tying him to a six-year contract. That move gives the Italian club control and leverage, while also signalling how highly he is valued internally.
