Liverpool’s reported interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has returned to the spotlight, with David Lynch outlining why the England international could be an attractive option for the Reds as they consider their next midfield signing.

Speaking to Dave Davis on Anfield Index, Lynch discussed Scott’s qualities, his familiarity with Andoni Iraola’s football and the decisions Liverpool may need to make when choosing between several potential targets.

While the links have generated interest, Lynch’s comments suggest that Liverpool’s admiration for Scott should not automatically be interpreted as a decision to pursue a deal. The midfielder is one of several options under consideration, with the club facing important choices over the next two transfer windows.

Lynch made it clear that Scott is a player Liverpool are likely to have monitored, pointing to his development at Bournemouth and the qualities he could bring to the squad.

“He ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool,” Lynch explained, highlighting the midfielder’s energy, tactical experience and homegrown status.

Discussing Scott’s physical qualities, he added that the player has a “great engine on him”. That work rate is an important part of his appeal, particularly given the demands of playing in a midfield expected to cover ground, press opponents and contribute in different phases of the game.

Lynch also highlighted Scott’s experience under Iraola, saying: “He knows Iraola football.”

That familiarity could be useful if Liverpool decide to pursue the Bournemouth midfielder. Scott already understands the demands of the football associated with Iraola, giving him experience that could be relevant to Liverpool’s plans.
