Aston Villa’s interest in a January loan for Real Madrid’s Brazilian forward Endrick has taken a hit after an agency chief made the player’s preference clear.

Alan Redmond, Roc Nation’s head of football, discussed the 20-year-old’s future with AdnKronos. Sport Witness relayed his comments, suggesting Villa may struggle to persuade him to leave the Bernabéu.

“The financial aspect isn’t important; the player evaluates the club’s project,” Redmond said. He added that Endrick has the quality to play for Real Madrid and “just needs opportunities”. Redmond said the forward had always intended to remain in Madrid and did not expect him to join another club.

Endrick joined Madrid from Palmeiras in 2024 on a six-year contract and scored on his debut that August. His progress has stalled. After a loan spell at Lyon last season, he has managed only four minutes for Madrid this campaign, fuelling speculation about a January move.

Endrick scored eight goals in 24 appearances last season and recorded seven assists in 14 Ligue 1 matches for Lyon. He can operate centrally or from the right, explaining Villa’s interest.

Unai Emery has Nicolas Jackson and Tammy Abraham available through the middle, while teenage forward Brian Madjo is another option. On the right, John McGinn can fill in, and youngsters Alysson and Ibrahim Mbaye are competing for opportunities. Mbaye featured in the Carabao Cup win over Coventry City.

Probably not. Villa need January recruitment to solve a tactical problem, not simply add a young name. Endrick’s talent is obvious, but a loan would raise questions over his minutes, physical readiness and commitment if Madrid remain his priority.
